What we believe.
Mission
"We believe that every child deserves a
safe place to call home."
What does this mean?
We believe the following, whether a child is in Home Austin's care, the care of another foster family, or with their family:
-
That a child should be well cared for, clothed, clean, and fed.
-
That a child should have a roof over their head. A warm place to rest their bodies at the end of each day.
-
That a child should be free from the burdens of corporal punishment. This includes but is not limited to physical abuse such as whipping, beating, and even spanking.
-
That a child should have adults who are actively involved in their care tasks and are not currently under the influences of any substances that alter their brains (ie drugs & excessive alcohol).
-
That a child should be treated with respect & dignity. That they are not belittled, insulted, yelled at, or cursed at.
Vision
"At Home Austin, we believe in the restorative power of the love of Jesus. We dream of the day when Foster Care is not a scary word, but rather a place where hope can be found. We desire to not only Foster children but also walk alongside ALL those affected by Foster Care.”
What does this mean?
-
We believe that we all have a story to tell and that no one is ever “too far gone” to experience the goodness that’s found in a relationship with Jesus.
-
We believe that everyone deserves a chance of experiencing grace.
-
We operate out of the belief that it could’ve been us in this same situation and we keep that in mind as we work with parents, children & foster families.
-
We believe that family is more than blood and that the relationships we form are eternal.
-
We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
Core Values
Truth
Confidence or trust in a person, thing, or concept.
Belonging
Affinity for a place or situation.
Security
Having something or someone to rest upon, to depend upon for protection for support for needs.
Unconditional Love
Choosing to love regardless of circumstances.
Vision
The ability to think about or plan the future with imagination and wisdom.
Truth- We are grounded first in our foundation, Jesus. From that, we operate out of the knowledge that everyone is valuable, has a purpose, and is capable of great things. We find it a great honor in being able to share this truth with those we come in contact with.
Belonging- No matter who you are or what you've done you will always have a home to come back to and people to call family.
Security- We operate out of a certain level of vulnerability towards everyone we meet. This vulnerability breeds a sense of security and trust in knowing that we come to the table exactly as we are and we want you to feel the freedom to share exactly who you are.
Unconditional Love- We believe that love is not just a feeling but a daily choice to pursue others. Unconditional love is the Father Heart of Christ, a pursuit, unlike anything you can find here on Earth. We are broken people serving broken people. A promise of unconditional love is a promise to see past the gunk and into the heart of who you truly are.
Vision- We serve a BIG God. A God whom we believe is continuing to speak to us and give us vision for the calling he has for us. As Christ-followers, we believe it is our duty and honor to steward these callings well.
