The new year leaves most feeling nostalgic and expectant. This is no different for Home Austin. As we gear up to enter in to 2022 we come to the realization that we are moving fast! We are assured that 2022 will be a year to remember.
We are determined to bless the families who Foster by furthering our mission and approach. Foster Care is no easy feat and we are here to listen and to love.
Home Austin will open up a Parent’s Day Out (PDO) Program in the Austin area. This PDO will serve as a stepping stone for our larger ministry goals. Opening a PDO model will allow us to start serving children through community-based partnerships with local churches. This PDO will provide a stable and trauma-informed learning environment for children affected by Foster Care. Families who foster will be given the opportunity to use scholarship funds set aside from donations and a portion of tuition from other families in the program.*
Home Austin will provide comfort to families by redoing visitation rooms throughout Region 7. When families enter into Foster Care they are given court-appointed visitation hours supervised at the local DFPS offices. Due to a lack of funding, these rooms are currently outdated and in need of a warm, inviting, and home-like environment. Families deserve a dignifying place to bond and connect on a deeper level. We will create thoughtfully designed spaces filled with new furniture, age-appropriate toys, games, and a comforting atmosphere.
